Phillip Reed was a musical prodigy whose legacy continues to resonate deeply within the music world and beyond. Born into a family rich with musical history, Phillip was profoundly influenced by his grandfather, the legendary blues musician Jimmy Reed. From a tender age of five, Phillip’s passion for music was evident as he learned and played alongside his mother, Bettye. This early exposure to music led him to master not only the piano but also the guitar, bass, drums, and virtually any instrument he chose to play. His compositions, a harmonious blend of intricate jazz chords and inspirational melodies, were not only ahead of their time but also moved hearts and elevated spirits.

Phillip’s true genius lay in his ability to craft music that was both technically brilliant and spiritually enriching. This devotion to honoring God through his talents saw him create music that offered joy, healing, and peace to listeners. With nearly 1,000 compositions to his name, Phillip was a prolific producer who collaborated with countless independent artists, contributing to a diverse array of music genres including gospel, inspirational, jazz, love, and wedding songs. Each piece carried the potential to transform lives. Before his untimely passing in September 2010, he founded WGOD Productions and Living Water Records in Chicago, driven by a desire to share his divine gift with the world. Inspired by radio-style programs he created with his best friend Just Steve, WGOD Productions is a testament to Phillip’s faith and belief in the scripture, “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

Years after his passing, Phillip’s sisters, Trelena and Cherita, revived WGOD Productions, embracing a passionate mission to manage and release Phillip’s timeless music. They believe that his work contains profound messages and emotions meant to be shared globally. WGOD Productions aims to partner with God to unveil the beauty and power of Phillip’s music, offering audiences the same healing and inspiration he intended.
