As the oldest sister of the late Phillip Reed, she honors his legacy by overseeing his diverse and extensive music catalog that includes quality music spanning many genres…all crafted to bring joy and inspiration. With her strong business acumen and strategic vision, Trelena continues to propel WGOD Productions forward, with a vision of enriching lives through transformative musical experiences.

Cherita Reed, the older sister of the late Phillip Reed, brings her musical talents and heartfelt dedication to WGOD Productions. With a rich background in music, she connects with others through her warmth and authenticity, playing a vital role in preserving and promoting Phillip’s musical legacy. Cherita’s passion ensures that his diverse and inspiring works continue to touch hearts and enrich lives.

Our Backstory

WGOD Productions, Inc. was founded from a place of deep love and devotion, created to honor the remarkable legacy of Phillip Reed—a musical prodigy from a very musical family. Phillip’s grandfather was the late great famous blues musician, Jimmy Reed, whose influence played a part in shaping Phillip’s own musical journey. Phillip discovered his passion for music at just five years old, learning and playing alongside his mother Bettye.

This early start led him to master not only the piano but also the guitar, bass, drums, and, remarkably, any instrument he chose to play! His compositions were far ahead of their time, blending intricate jazz chords with inspirational melodies that moved hearts and elevated spirits.

Phillip’s true genius lay in his ability to craft music that was both technically brilliant and spiritually enriching. His choice to honor God through his talents led him to create music that offered joy, healing, and peace.

A Musical Legacy

With nearly 1,000 compositions to his name, Phillip was a prolific producer who collaborated with numerous independent artists, creating a diverse array of music that included gospel, inspirational, jazz, as well as love and wedding songs, each piece carrying the potential to transform lives.

Before Phillip’s untimely death in September 2010, he had established WGOD Productions and Living Water Records in Chicago, aiming to share his divine gift with the world. The original name WGOD was inspired by radio-style programs Phillip and his best friend Just Steve created, capturing the joy of spontaneous musical creation. It also embodies the belief in the scripture, “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26), a testament to Phillip’s faith.

Many years after his passing, Phillip’s sisters Trelena and Cherita revived WGOD Productions, driven by a passionate mission to manage and release his timeless music. They believe that Phillip’s work contains profound messages and emotions meant to be shared with the world. WGOD Productions aims to partner with God to unveil the beauty and power of Phillip’s music, offering audiences the same healing and inspiration that he intended.
